Two sisters
by Ruth Schreiber.
Ruth Schreiber was born in London to a religious family. In fact, Ruth’s became preoccupied exclusively with fine art at a relatively later stage in her life. “Two sisters”, is Ruth’s first solo exhibition, presents objects made of ceramic, fabric and paper.
Despite them being aesthetic and well designed and despite them being made from materials we would usually associate with design and craft, the intention that lies in their making is different. It seems that each object has a story and that the objects are hurting. The images are closed and yet at the same time they open an unsettling door that leads to possible personal histories: childhood memories, death and birth, attempts to heal the body or possibly change the body…
